Ryo is an easy going young man of Japanese origin, whose obsessive love of suckers/lollipops has earned him the nickname "Lolli". He is compassionate, good with kids, and a diligent worker (when he likes his job). His hair is styled messily, with soft purple highlights spread throughout. He sports a number of piercings, is found in bright, nearly gaudy layered clothes, wearing various hairpieces and clips, and sucking on hard candy. Patterns relating to abstract butterflies and dragonflies are on everything he owns. He adores cooking and eating, and somehow has managed to stay thin despite his constant intake of sweets and junk food.
He grew up in a broken home, his parents having divorced at a young age. Even with the ensuing difficulties, he enjoyed a good childhood. When he was 12, his mother moved from Tokyo to the US, taking him with her. There she remarried to an older man, who worked in the food industry. Ryo was fond of him at first, but this attraction soon wore of. It turns out his new step father was prejudiced against pretty much every ethnic minority. When the boy came out at 15, it wasn't received well. His mother, too scared to oppose her husband, took his stepfather's side on the matter. Ryo found himself the subject of verbal abuse for the next 3 years, and spent a good deal of time away from home.
After entering college he moved to an apartment complex in another city and took up 2 jobs; the first as a day care worker and the second as a waiter for a tea house. He is currently living happily alone, accompanied by a little terrier named Lucy and a canary called Prill. He majors in art, and specializes in Japanese water color.
