Personality: To most people, Karneval comes off as a cold person, and he can be quick to snap at others. This icy front is something he's created over the years due to facing various heartbreaking betrayals, and he's become rather guarded as a coping mechanism. To those that Karneval doesn't know well, or just flat out doesn't like, he's highly aggressive, though not violently so - it takes a great deal to get him to want to actually fight you, despite his profession. Give him a good reason, though, and he has no qualms tearing someone to shreds. Karneval spent most of his life in the military, breaking away from it to take care of a former boyfriend after a traumatizing incident in a war. He never intended to return, however did once his former boyfriend dumped him for someone else, as a distraction method to get over his heartache. It's been plenty of years since that happened, and now that he's completely moved on, he's honestly not too thrilled about working there, and quite frequently thinks about leaving. The "greater than thou" attitude of the other officers really irks him.
Being a Fuu Dog, Karneval is, by nature, very protective of others. While this used to apply to everyone, it now only applies to those that have proven to him that they're worth it. When Karneval does let his guarded walls fall he's a very kindhearted and warm person. He goes out of his way to help those he cares about, wanting nothing more than security and happiness for them. Karneval's lived a fairly thankless life, so when someone shows him the same kindness in return, he can struggle to show his appreciation, though he always tries his best to do so.
Karneval values loyalty above all else. Although he doesn't swear his personal loyalty to just anyone, when he does give it to you, you're sure to have an unwavering ally by your side. Stabbing him in the back - or anyone he cares for - is one of the worst mistakes someone could make; although internally he'll be suffering over it, Karneval can almost instantly disassociate himself from someone, and will leave that person to the dogs without a second thought.
Karneval is honest and rather blunt, to the point that it can sometimes be considered rude. However, in his opinion, it's better to know the bitter truth than to live a blissful lie. Fantasies can only last so long, and the longer you're stuck in one, the more it hurts when you inevitably crash into reality.
Likes: Karneval adores a good book; when he's off from his military duties, he can mainly be seen relaxing in his boyfriend's library. His favorite genres are action and mystery; when reading the latter, if he finds the book especially interesting, he'll even write down clues and try to solve it himself before reaching the end.
He loves to cook. Karneval initially learned out of necessity when he needed to care for his former boyfriend, however he now uses it as a way to de-stress. Karneval has a monstrous appetite, so he often cooks ridiculously large portions of food at a time. He loves trying new foods, especially from other countries - in addition he adores traveling, gathering recipes on his trips and trying them out when he returns home. Traveling is one of the few parts of being in the military that he actually enjoys, as he loves the new sights and sounds and has a deep interest in cultures other than his own.
Karneval doesn't mind a good fight, however he's the type to think before he leaps. He mostly prefers ones for fun rather than a legitimate challenge; he deals with enough of that during his job. As grumpy as he is towards everyone, it honestly takes a lot for him to want to get into a real fight with you, and he knows when to pick and choose his battles as well.
Surprisingly, Karneval plays a lot of video games. His attention is most drawn to action packed games like Call of Duty and the Halo series; he uses them as a way to take out the large amount of frustration that comes with his line of work.
A fan of warmer spring and summer weather, Karneval is in his best mood when there's a light spring breeze in the air. During this time he's often seen outside, and in particular enjoys hiking; he loves the serenity of nature, and being away from the large crowds of people allows him to gather his thoughts. Although he doesn't mind autumn, Karneval detests that the changing of the leaves means that cold weather is approaching.
