The Lost Moonlight - The Betrayed Eclipse
Long ago, far beyond the third and fourth burnings of history, but not so long after the Sun set to live among the stars in their darkness, the Dark quietly gazed upon this alliance forged of necessity and thought to himself:
"Hm! So they wish to spend worship on [her] only son, so it may be. Though nearly as powerful as all of my children combined, his still pales before my own, infinite and pure, and as such will never rise to rival myself. Yet, an interesting concept."
Inspired by the choice to spend [her] power on the worthless pursuit of revenge, he twisted his power of creation, and created not a thousand nor million nor very many more, but one single egg, from which two were manifested. A pair that rather than live and die in an endless cycle, reborn and forgetting their purpose again and again, they were made unable to die and to regenerate from any wound.
The first shone white, and was the light of the moon. The second did not shine, but instead seemed to deny any light and was the eclipse.
The dark did not wait, not have the interest in such a squabble of beings lower than him to see if they should succeed against the Sun after their creation, and as they were created by none other than him, he knew they were perfect - and he did not see how they lost, defeated by the greater sunlight and overwhelmed by fire and cast back out to the void time and again, so was their purpose.
Only much later, in the loss and despair did the Moonlight question their given role as rival to one they could never defeat, and as the Eclipse's loyalty did not waver, was he struck down by his brother.
