Claire was the youngest of three children in an ordinary home. Her older sister played the piano and her older brother played the guitar. Music filled her house, and she often hummed along to her siblings' tunes. Her gift had always been singing. She especially liked to sing along to her sister's piano. That's why when her sister suddenly fell ill when Claire was eleven, it hit her hard. Within a month her sister was dead. The piano's music stopped filling the house, and so did Claire's singing.

Her brother continued to play the guitar almost every day, but Claire had never been very close to him, for she'd always stuck with their sister. Her brother learned to play her favorite songs, though, and slowly Claire began to sing again. Her and her brother switched from classical and softer music to alternative and rock in their teenage years. They bonded through music.

In her sophomore year of high school, Claire and her brother formed a band named Black Cotton with two of their friends. She did the singing, and her brother played his electric guitar. Both still missed the tune of the piano that their sister used to add to the mix, but the scars were healing. Black Cotton became popular in their school, and after all the members had graduated- Claire being the youngest- they could put all their time into their music, therefore increasing their popularity.

The earlier fans of Black Cotton didn't know Claire's name, so they began calling her "Pocket" because of her small size. She gladly took on the name, odd as it was. Her band is her life, and even though only one of its members is actually blood-related to her, she refers to all of them as her "brothers."
