In short...
Layla was birthed by the creator as a physical incarnation of life itself. She was meant to bond with her opposite, death, to show the living that life was a beautiful, precious thing, but also fleeting. However, most mortals refused to embrace this fact, clinging to life and giving it a place of unreal beauty and glory in their minds. It changed her to a being of unsurpassed loveliness, but an elusive one; mortals will never see and love her as they were meant, but will only be gifted with fleeting glances.
Physically
Human
First impression is a stunning one, and not an event you'll ever forget. Layla is all the beauty and energies of life packed into one physical form, and she simply radiates surreal loveliness. Layla has a wonderfully slender, shapely figure, a face fine and delicately wrought as a doll's, and is as graceful and light as a breeze with even the simplest of movements.
Height/build is delicate and very feminine. At 5'4 she stands much shorter than her husband, and possesses a figure very slender and lithe, yet also soft and shapely. Nothing about her is hard or worn.
Complexion seems to change with the seasons. During the colder months of winter and autumn her skin is smooth and pale and icy looking, while in spring and summer, it almost glows with warmth and takes on a more golden hue reminiscent of a sandy beach.
Face is oval shaped and finely wrought, reminding one of a porcelain doll. Her cheekbones are smooth and high and always posses a faint flush of rosy pink; her lips are full. Layla's eyes are big and colored bright silver, framed by long, fluttering black lashes. She has very dark hair but it seems to range in color from violet to navy to deep black depending on the light; it falls in dramatically spiraling curls to her waist.
Clothing is never fixed; Layla flits from one style to the next when it suits her. However, she does seem to favor dresses -- short and ruffled in warm seasons and long and flowing in colder, but no matter what they are always bright and colorful with intricate details and, usually, lots of lace and silk. Her shoes are usually slippers or pumps that go with her dress, and she loves to wear long, dangly earrings, and anklets, all with various charms and precious gems, and in her hair, large and flowery ornaments.
The rest are her natural abilities, granted to her at her creation. Layla, like her husband, has the power to dig through your mind for memories, so if she touches you she can make you relive them, if not, only she will see it. She has minor precognition abilities -- minor because there are so many choices possible and so many paths one can take that one being cannot possibly look at them all; only the surest of things are revealed to her. Life is what Layla truly is, and as such, she can drain it away with a touch -- your body will wither and wrinkle, aging years and years in just moments, and though you will live out your full number of days your body will decay as you still breathe. However this does require a certain weakness of will on the victims' part, and Layla abhors this ability anyway and thus rarely uses it. Her biggest weapon is her stunning beauty and natural grace; she can easily distract anyone and get away quickly. Even if she is stabbed through the heart this will simply banish her to purgatory while her body is rebuilt, and she will return again. Illness does not affect her.

Type is a slender, light-footed doe.
Height/build is slightly smaller than most does but not by much; slender and lightly muscled.
Colors are a bright, shimmering snowy white coat and a black splash between her eyes, like an ink blot; her hooves are also black. In the right light the white shows off bright, colorful highlights.
Mentally
Layla never seems to run out of energy, flying through daylight hours as if every single second should be packed with exciting moments. She's insanely curious as well and will never pass up an opportunity for information or just to explore something, even if it doesn't seem like the safest or smartest thing to do, because she simply can't resist. Pair this tendency with a good dose of bravery, and you've got a woman who gets herself into trouble much more often than is good for her husband's health. It's not because she's terribly stupid but Layla is simply drawn to explore and learn about the world around her; it's her nature and she can't fight it. She's smart enough to recognize a truly dangerous situation but foresight and caution are her great weaknesses; she says that's what Elian is for.
Boredom is another big problem Layla has. Her mind is so very active that she gets anxious and bored very easily, and has been known to do some very stupid things for relief. It's at these times that her mind sort of shuts down and reacts like someone stuck in a box for hours on end and willing to do absolutely anything to escape. Layla has very slight clausterphobia; she likes open spaces where she can see far off and know she can go whenever she pleases, and does not like confinement at all.
Layla's family is of paramount importance to her. She's a very protective mother and while she's perfectly alright with an empty nest at the moment, the smallest rumor that one of her children is in trouble will send her into an uproar. This feisty woman will not hesitate to go after anyone threatening her or her family.
