Freezing Warmth
Her Pride was Nocturnal. They slept during Light and acted during the Dark. Kyesha learned to see with scent. In the frozen tundra that was her home, she was as good as blind. She heard how her mother hunted. She was gifted with speed and intelligence, but she was still a pup. She won all of the play fights, and thus was the first to be fed.
One Dark, she decided to try her skills at hunting. Coming up empty-handed, she followed her scent trail back to camp. When she arrived, everyone was gone. Figuring they had gone hunting, she lay down and fell asleep. She awoke in Light, fresh snow falling, alone. Her Pride had gone. She couldn't follow them because the snow covered their scent.
She called out and ran so the snow warmed her right side, the one she didn't sleep on. She could tell it was early light, but she wasn't sure how she knew.
For many Lights, she ran through the tundra, forsaking the ways of her old Pride, sleeping in Dark, running in Light. It got slowly warmer. She taught herself how to hunt in Light. Once, she encountered a lone Ahbruis. Suffering from a nasty scar on her eye, she sent the loner away with moderately serious scratches.

She ran for many moons, as she could now see them. She had matured, now a bold, fierce Ahbruis, immune to cold and hunger. One day, she came across a black box that radiated heat. It was High Light. Exhausted, she rested by it, and fell asleep. In the middle of the Dark, she awoke, and saw a light coming from a crack in the box.
She nosed it open, and immediately felt a surge of warmth. The warmth turned to excruciating heat, penetrating her entirely. The heat was so intense, she felt cold, and fainted.

When she awoke, five other beings surrounded her. She raised a paw to fight them, but it was on fire. Oddly enough, it wasn't unpleasant.
"Hey. I'm Fly," said the relieved, intelligent looking one looking flying one. "Are you okay? You've been out for a while."
"Hi! I'm Backstroke, but please call me Natalie," said the beaky one with glowing orbs. "Let's go shopping later!"
"Hello there. I'm Breaststroke, but please call me Becca," said the one with a smaller beak. "If you need anything, please, let me know."
"And I'm Freestyle. Call me Free," said the snow-covered one. "Wanna race later?"
"Oh, shut up, Free! Anyways, I'm TitanSwimr, but you can call me Titan," I said. "What's your name?"
"Kyesha," she said. "Kyesha Firetongue."
"Well, Kyesha, let's get you some food, and we can talk about how you got here..."
