Name: Nyra
Nickname: N/A
Age: 19
Race: Human *
Gender: Male
Occupation: Warrior
Orientation: Bisexual
Status: Taken By :Xedrin
Skin: Tan
Hair: Dark Brown, the sides are shaved down, though at the top of his head, he has long hair that is normally twisted and tied back. Similar to this
Eyes: Green - A slight deformity from radiation but was looked over by his people.
Weight: 213 lbs
Height: 6' 3"
* He is a descendant of the humans who survived the nuclear war 97 years ago. He is a member of the Woods Clan, and is rather high ranked among his people.
Appearance: Has many tattoos covering his arms, one on his neck and a large back piece as well, all in black ink and tribal designs. Rather stocky though it is all pure muscle from many years of training to be a warrior. He also has many scars, mainly on his right shoulder for the amount of kills he has racked up over the years. He also has a rather distinguishing scar that goes from the left side of his chin, across his lips and ends at the bottom of his nose on the right side in a diagonal cut.
Abilities: He is greatly skilled with a bow, though his hand to hand combat is rather impressive too. He has mastered turning his surroundings into weapons.
Personality: He can be rather rough around the edges, violent and all around rather nasty when he does decide to actually talk. He is a man of few words, and most of the time it is to criticize a fellow warrior, give an order, inform the Commander, and that about covers all he says.He rarely express himself, gloats or anything of the sort that wouldn't help his people, whom he is very dedicated to protecting and training. He is rather intimidating for due to his size, the way he carries himself, which is confidently, and due to his silence he just seems to be more feared.
Relatives: Lincoln, is his older cousin though they are in no way close. He also has an older sister, who currently holds a position of high power.
Background: Warriors among the Grounders are started at a young age, Nyra's father saw great potential in him, and by the age of 7 he was Indra's second. She trained him hard for many years, teaching him how to protect his people properly. Taught him English, as all warriors should know, and also taught him about the world that surrounded them. She showed him how to make poisons, food, weapons and supplies simply from the environment around them.
By this age of 16, he had learned all Indra could teach him, to the point he was able to have a second of his own but has yet to choose one.
-------
The wind whipped through the trees, the moon shone above them. Torches light small areas as a small group of the 100 moved through the forest, pulling back the corpse of a boar they had hunted for them all to eat, bright green eyes followed their movements, his large frame carrying him soundlessly behind them. The grounder could hear them talking, his sharp trained ears straining to make out each of the words that were spoken, carefully he got closer, his frame caused a sapling to snap back as he passed by it, his head whipping around with a shocked expression, realizing that it had made a sound.
Damien's ears caught the sound, his body automatically reacting, throwing his knife in the direction of the sound, a grunt followed seconds later. The group moved forward and rushed the larger man, slashing, poking and prodding at him as soon as they could reach. The man fought against them, taking a couple of them out in self defense but was soon overtaken by the sheer number of teens attacking him.
He was bound, both his hands and legs, three young men in the group dragging him along, their leader, Damien encouraging them, making whoops and hollers of victory as they made their way back to the camp, a grounder and boar in hand. The grounder struggled and wiggled against the bindings, but failed to escape, all he could do was keep his dignity as he was dragged along the forest ground, not a sound escaping his lips.
A while had passed and the group approached the large wall that was around the dropship and the main doors opened, the group walked in at first, the camp roared with excitement as food was presented. Then silence when Nyra was rolled out for everyone to see, his bright green eyes darting around to look at everyone like a caged animal, half of his features hidden behind the mismatched bone mask, and most of his body mass hidden behind layers of leather and fur.
"String up in the drop ship!" yelled out, "They have attacked us, and now we have been presented with answers!" He looked down and pointed an accusing finger at the man before them all. The 'leaders' little flunkies abided by his request, dragged the grounder to the top floor of the drop ship, Damien popped his head in "Make sure to he's in no way armed" He stated, then shuffled off to prepare the boar. The group ended up stringing him up in a cruel manner, his legs bound apart, and his arms out in a T shape. All of his gear, including his mask was stripped of him, one of them nearly lost a finger while removing the mask as he snapped at them like an animal. He was left, strung up in nothing but his pants, the rest of his stuff tossed in a heap at the side, his tanned skin was full of cuts, bruises, and the knife still stuck out of the bicep muscle.
Soon enough the commotion in the drop ship settled, guard duty was figured out and they were to rotate every few hours, a young spry firecracker by the name of Brock was currently on duty, though he was rather exhausted, but refused to tell anyone he was. The grounder's bright eyes watching as he nodded in and out of sleep.
~~~~
Xedrin was one one the 100. He'd grown up on the ship and had a pretty quiet life up until...well recently. Considering where they were now. Of course he'd been caught stealing parts for one of his projects which was what got him into this mess.
He had an addiction for building things. Useful things. But most people didn't believe him due to his clumsy state of getting around. His sleeping quarters were with some of the younger group. Not because he -was- younger because he wasn't, but because he was considered -that- useful.
He didn't have very many friends though he had made at least one since the drop. One of the older group had taken him under his wing and often got him some food when the crowd was pushing to get to it.
He'd known a hunting party had gone out and that friend had been in it. So when they came back, when he'd heard the calls he hurried out of the tent stumbling over his feet and yelping as he landed just outside the door on hands and knees. Squinting and peering over the commotion.
Instead of standing up he crawled around and through legs until he was in the front before he stood up looking around frantically for his friend. Though his attention was instantly drawn to the Grounder. He'd shuddered even as his curiosity was peaked. He wanted to know. Needed to know more about the large figure.
He spent a lot of time watching people so when he noticed Brock was on duty he settled nearby but not to close. Watching the lines on the mans face. He knew Brock was exhausted and fully intended to take advantage of it.
When Brock conked out Xedrin was on the move. Though clumsy he was quite the little thief to snagging up some water in a plastic bottle and heading up the ladder inside the ship.
~~~~
Nyra stayed quiet and slumped in his restraints, his body was exhausted. Though he let his mind rest, his muscles going limp in the bindings, causing pressure on his wrists and shoulders but he ignored it. He let his mind slightly relax and slightly doze off himself, hoping he could regain some of his strength, and enough of it so he was able to get out of the predicament he was in.
Though his relaxation was interrupted , he could hear small footsteps coming up the ladder, his body snapping back to attention, his tired green eyes focusing on the hatch, glazed and sharp, glaring, ignoring the needs of his body, he looked far from friendly in his current state.
~~~~
Xedrin pushed open the hatch with a bit of struggle. Sliding up and in as he put the string of the bottle in his mouth so he could use both his hands. He wanted to close the hatch quietly. He nearly dropped it and yelped quietly before catching it on his legs. That was going to bruise. He frowned. Sliding out and closing the hatch he pushed himself to his feet adjusting the goggles on his head and brushing at his clothes in a 'you didn't see that' manner.
He turned to face the Grounder and frowned at what he'd seen. "Monsters..." he whispered. One might suspect he was calling Nyra one but he shook his head and frowned again. "...all my people are acting like savages..." he wasn't even sure that Nyra could understand him.
Moving towards Nyra he tripped over a slight raise in the floor. The water in his hands launched out, with bottle and directly at Nyra. The bottle splattering water over his chest and down his front.
Xedrin stood staring in shock...
"..Oops..."
~~~~
Nyra watched him carefully, his bright green eyes not missing a single movement, though no sound came from him as the other spoke to him, the Grounder gave no indication that he understood him.
His mind was analyzing the male before him, he seemed rather clumsy, uncoordinated, and far from skilled like the other's that he had fought out in the woods earlier. His train of thoughts were quickly interrupted, yet again, but this time, by cold water hitting his chest and running to his belt line. His muscles twitching and flexing under the rapid temperature change, and the soothing feeling it gave to some of the marks. The deep purple bruise on his rib cage especially, his eyes slightly sliding closed for a moment before he remembered he was being watched. Nyra's eyes snapping back open and focusing on Xedrin, and returned to glaring at him, treating him as an enemy.
~~~~
"Oh.." Xedrin spoke quietly. He had noticed the change, noticed the twitching muscles and saw the water wash some of the blood away. He caught the eyes closing briefly. One thing he was, was observant. Chewing his lower lip he moved closer. He had moved within reach of course but he didn't touch. Instead he crouched to pick up the bottle and check to see if there was any water it in.
Frowning he shook his head. "I was going to bring you a drink..but I'm afraid there isn't much left." Raising the bottle to shake the bit left in it.
"Do you want what's left? Your lips are cracked..I bet they haven't given you any food or water since you got here..."
~~~~
Nyra stood there and watched him, his eyes bouncing back and forth between Xedrin's moving lips and the water. The water shaking at the bottom of the bottle drew his attention, though he did not want to give away that he understood what the other was saying, so he just stared at the bottle. His pink tongue moving out of his mouth slowly to lick at his cracked, swollen lips.
He then looked to the ground and waited, as if showing submission, though anyone with common sense would know it was simply to get what he wanted.
~~~~
Xedrin watched him, reading his body language he moved closer. He slide the bottle into Nyra view so that he could lift his head. "I'll tip it up for you."
Anyone close enough could see that his hands were shaking. He was scared but to curious to care. To worried for the other man.
"Your people have killed a lot of ours already...Their mad. But that doesn't give them the right to do this.." He kept looking over his shoulder to make sure that no one had noticed. Tipping the water up for the Grounder to drink.
"I don't know why I'm talking to you...you probably don't understand." There was a distinctly lonely tone to his voice.
~~~~
When the water came in to his view he lifted his head and let the lip of the bottle sit on his bottom lip, his inhuman, radiation green eyes watched the younger one, his eyes shining with understanding as he listened.
His eyes locked on to Xedrin's trembling hands as the bottle was tipped up for him, his tongue lapping at the opening hoping for more. When there was none left, a small sigh of both disappointment and relief escaped his scarred lips. His dehydration making the scar that ran from the bottom left of his chin, across his lips up to the right bottom side of his nose much more visible, even though his lips were swollen. The scar looked old, white, but anyone could tell that the injury had been deep.
His eyes moved from Xedrin's hand back up to his face, investigating him further.
~~~~
Xedrin lowered the bottle. "Sorry..I'll try and get you more. But it will depend who is on guard..." He admitted quietly.
As for his features they were smooth yet smudged with dirt. He smelled like ship grease and oils used for building. His hair was blond and kinked with half curls. His features were pale and unmarred. He's clear not seen the outside of the gates since he got here.
He hadn't really seen anything horrible in his life. Perhaps his parents had sheltered him and though he knew about those having been floated, he'd never been to see one himself.
His eyes were and ice blue and around his eyes was cleaner than the rest of his face, a tell take shadowing left from wearing the goggles that sat atop his floofy hair.
He had tender and kind features though they held fear in them as well. He glanced over his shoulder towards the hatch and back to Nyra.
"I should go..before they catch me...I'll try and bring you some food..."
~~~~
The bottle was taken away, his eyes looked over the features of the younger male, they were very different compared to the features that Nyra was used to seeing. His eyes followed where Xedrin's eyes had gone, the hatch, and then back to the teen.
He still chose not to speak, he was still not given a reason to, or even a reason to trust the boy before him, therefore, he stayed silent but let the other talk to him. Giving very small signs that he did indeed understand him, his facial features did not change, nor did his disposition, but his pupils did dilate at the thought of food, which showed that the words were understood, the food was anticipated and an exciting thought. His stomach following suite and giving a small rumble, expressing it's need for substance.
~~~~
Xedrin had noticed the response from the older man when he'd mentioned for. That settled it.
"I'll bring what I can...as soon as I can." he turned away from him then. Glancing over his shoulder at the other and giving him a concerned look.
"Nobody here likes you..They say your kind are at fault for all the dead. I..I think they might hurt you..I'm sorry."
He turned his back to Nyra now and started for the hatch, stumbling once but managing not to fall. Crouching then to pull up the heavy hatch and hoping the Brock was still asleep. His plan would be to steal food later on and if there isn't enough he would share his meal with the man as soon as he could find his way back again without interruption
Pulling the hatch he started to descend back to the lower floor.
~~~~
Nyra watched as the other left, the words sinking into his mind, and he knew that Xedrin was right, Damien had mentioned answers, which meant they intended to get them from Nyra. It was only a matter of time.
He slumped in his restraints once the other closed the hatch, and sigh of exhaustion leaving his lips. His body ached, the knife still sticking out of his muscle now started to itch and still dropped a small puddle of blood on to the floor, most of his other cuts were no longer bleeding. His body was however covered in dirt and dry blood in most areas, the small area the water had run down was only slightly cleaner but noticeable.
Brock had stayed asleep for the most part, and when he did stir, he had not noticed the other up with the Grounder, but the yell of his leader caught his attention.
Damien made his way towards the dropship, walking by Xedrin close enough that he was able to shoulder check the shorter male out of his way with a dirty look, as if saying 'You should know to stay the hell out of my way' even though the words never left the man's lips. He hooped and hollered as he stood before the now forming crowd, standing on the higher entrance of the drop ship. "Tonight! We get our answers, and if not our answers, then at least some revenge!" He pumped his fist in to the air and the crowd roared.
Nyra could hear the commotion outside, a look of worry crossed his expression as he straightened himself back up in his restraints, waiting for them to enter.
~~~~
Xedrin hated to depart the man when he knew what kind of situation was likely to happen not long from now. He shuddered at the idea. A lot of the people seem to have become violent or savages of some sort.
As he moved away and Brock headed for the group he was bumped into, knocked onto his butt with a cry of pain and a shudder. He watched Damien give him the look and he frowned looking down and away until the chaos passed.
He wanted nothing to do with hurting another person. At least at this point in his life. Who knows what would come in the future.
Pushing to his feet he stumbled and winced as he moved. He knew most of the group would be occupied now so this would be the time to grab two meals, not just one. He stumbled towards his tent only tripping or bumping into a few people on his way and gathered a small satchel so he could hide the extra meal.
He slipped from the tent fumbling as he zipped it back closed and paused glancing towards the dropship and listening to the chaos. his eyes flickering around the area to look at anyone that might not be involved. He needed to asses his likely chance of getting an extra meal. That and possibly find something small to lockpick with.
He couldn't believe he was actually thinking of trying to let Nyra free. He'd be floated...or exiled if others found out.
~~~~
Once the crowd settled, the blond's eyes scanned the crowd, pushing a small chunk of his blond hair from his face. "Now let's go get them!" He yelled, turned on his heels and moved in to the drop ship, a select few following him, Brock being one of them. Damien took the lead and went up the ladder first, pushing the hatch open and moving into the room, his blue eyes being greeted by Nyra's stern green ones.
The small group piled in behind their lead, "Pass me the belt." He looked over at a taller, bulkier male, who abided and handed Damien one of their safety belts, the metal attachment still on the end. He looked at Nyra, swinging the metal in a large circle, though not yet hitting the large Grounder, simply using it as an intimidation factor. "Why are your people killing ours?" Damien barked out, and when he was met with silence, the belt went swinging, the metal connecting with Nyra's already tender ribs, Nyra gave next to no reaction, trying his best to keep the pain from his expression as he looked back up at Damien.
The process continued many times, the metal hitting Nyra in different locations in a pattern, the metal now hitting spots it had already hit, causing the skin to break open in many areas across his whole upper body, his lip to split and his cheek to swell. The grounder was actually pretty sure a couple bones were broken.
Finally the Grounder's body gave in to the abuse, his large body slumping in the restraints as he was knocked out cold, his vision blurring, then going black, the last thought to cross his mind was 'Yu gonplei ste odon' telling himself that his life was going to end and that his fight was over in his native tongue Trigedasleng.
But he was wrong, Damien grunted, sweat covering his exhausted features, he turned and looked at the group around him, many wore expression of horror, fear and worry, a few of pride. "When he wakes, we will try again!" He snapped, dropping the belt at his feet and leaving, whispers and hushs surrounded him. He left the drop ship in a rush and moved to his own tent, where a few women followed him in for the night.
Nyra was left in peace, or at least what he now considered peace, his mind lost in the darkness of his unconsciousness. His body even more bruised, bleeding and broken then before.
~~~~
Xedrin had heard it all from outside the dropship. he'd managed to steal his meal and an extra one. Now he'd settled eating his own near the drop ship entrance. He watched the crowd as it started to disperse and Damien left as well. His eyes were on the new guard who happened to be that one friend he had made this time around.
Xedrin approached the man and smiled though nervously. "I...I'd like to go up and see the grounder. You know as well as I do they shouldn't be hurting him like this.."
"I can't say I completely agree with you this time. His people have killed ours...he's dangerous."
"Maybe. But if we do this..we're just as bad..or worse. This is torture. Look. Just give me a little time? Go get your meal or something.."
The taller man frowned. He was one of the few that still had a bit of a heart left. "Fine..but I won't be gone long. If they catch me away from post I'll get floated. You know that." He shook his head and frowned before moving off towards the food area.
He watched the man good and hugged the satchel to himself. Heading for the ladder he checked to make sure he had a bottle of water in the satchel as well. Climbing the ladder he pushed the hatch open. When he saw Nyra he frowned, horrified at the condition the man was in now.
Slipping up inside he closed the hatch and reached for a pipe sliding it into place to lock it. Just in case.
He turned to Nyra then. "They're becoming more and more like savages the longer we're down here." He whispered. "I brought food..they're going to notice a meal is missing..." He moved towards Nyra, stumbling as he got there and unfortunately bumping his slender form against the already wounded grounder. He carefully pushed off him and crouched. "I'm sorry!" Opening the satchel to take out the food and water and set them on the floor.
~~~~
Nyra was still lost in the darkness of his mind, his muscles still all relaxed as the other entered the room and spoke to him, his breathing was slow with a slight rasp to them and his chin rested against his chest. The movement around him caused his mind to start to reactivate itself, slowly of course.
When Xedrin's slender form collided with his, his mind fired itself into overdrive a few moments later, as Xedrin placed the food down, the man woke up quickly and aggressively. His muscles all flexed, the restraints groaning as he put every bit of force he had left on them and his expression was one of a warrior, a fighter. Though his vision was still blurry, and it only took a few seconds for it to clear up, and once it had, Nyra had realized he had just snapped on the one person who was willing to help him, and the apology registered a few moments later, as if his mind was severely lagging. He forced his mind to relax, followed by his muscles, a large, deep breath leaving him as he looked down at Xedrin.
~~~~
Xedrin was startled with the violence the Nyra woke with. Even though it was something to be expected. He yelped and scuttled backwards away from Nyra until the other man's body would settle.
He sat at a distance staring at Nyra for several moments. He wanted to make sure the other man knew it was him. When he was sure of that he pushed himself to his feet brushing off his clothes and swallowing nervously.
"I don't know how much time we have..so...I need to be quick.."
He moved to the hatch and double checked to make sure it was locked solidly and then hurried back to Nyra. Stumbling but catching himself before running into him this time.
"First lets get you some water." he murmured and opened the bottle reaching carefully out to touch Nyra's chin helping him lift his head and placing the water at his lips.
"I have a plan...but we have to do it tonight...if we wait. You could be dead by morning...or..evening tomorrow. I don't think it will be pleasant either..."
He took a breath. "Drink..."
~~~~
Nyra felt bad when he had startled the other, but didn't dwell on it, it was something out of his control. He listened to the other, looking at him without really lifting his head till Xedrin helped him do so. He let the boy give him water, some of it dripping down his chin and on to Xedrin's hand, though he eventually stopped drinking. His body had enough hydration for the time being and he was more interested in having the water sooth some of his pain. He closed his lips firmly to show that he didn't want any more of the water, but still let his head rest in the other male's hand, actually enjoying the relief and being able to relax in to it.
Nyra knew Xedrin was right again, his body would not be able to take another beating like it had today, it was already on it's last bit of energy, and he could see that the other was indeed true to his word, Nyra could also see that the small male was indeed not a threat to him, and was not involved with the other's of the camp, he didn't show the same savagery as the others. He gave him a small amount of trust, though, still not enough to expose the fact that he understood, and on top of that could also speak english. So he relied on body language to get what he wanted. He picked his head up out of Xedrin's hand and looked over to the knife in his arm and nodded at it, then at the water, signaling he wanted some of the water poured there, then back to the bottle, then to his ribs, he would have signaled to have some of the water poured on to his face but he was unsure of how to manage that one without speaking, so he let it go for now.
~~~~
Xedrin watched the motions and seemed to pick up on body language pretty easily.
"Alright..but we don't have much time. I can try and removed the knife and bind it for you. But I only know basic first aid and I don't know if you will bleed out.."
He slid his hand down to the ragged hem of his shirt and tore off part of the lower have causing it to exposed his belly just a little. Un-marred still. He poured some water onto the fabric and squeezed it over the wound to let the cool water dribble over it. He chewed his lower lip as he did this.
"I might be able to unlock the cuffs...I have some...uhmm..skills." He meant in stealing things of course which meant unlocking things that were supposed to stay locked.
"I've worked a little in the medical tent. I know there's a sedative that I can use on the guard..in his drink..."
He started to smooth the cool water over Nyra's ribs but was gentle about this.
"But if I do this..I need to know you can walk...to be able to get out tonight. Cuz I don't know if I will be able to get back here..."
He paused. "I'll leave the knife...so you have something." Lifting his hand he cupped Nyra's chin and started smoothing water over his face. Gently now.
"I need to know you can do this before I risk it...Just nod...if you understands...nod again..if you can do it.."
He waited with shaky hands as he smoothed the cloth over the other mans cheekbone and jaw.
"They will kill me..or exile me if I get caught..."
~~~~
Nyra's eyes went a little wide at the mention of pulling the knife out, that was not what he had been hinting at, he watched the boy carefully, hoping he didn't have to stop him from ripping the knife out, his eyes following Xedrin's hand down to the hem of his shirt, and then focused on the porcelain skin. He really was unlike what Nyra was used to, but his attention was pulled away when the cool water soaked into the wound around the knife, he let out a breath of content.
His upper body reacted to the cool, and refreshing feeling of the water along his ribs, but he made a small wincing sound, not because of anything Xedrin had done, but because they were just that tender.
Nyra listened to every word the other spoke to him, knowing just how much he really was risking for a man he had just met. He stared at Xedrin as his chin was cupped, letting his first guard down, he let his eyes slide closed as the younger one washed his face. He then leaned in to the hand ever so gently, his eyes snapped open, bright vibrant green orbs focused on Xedrin's ice blue ones.
"Come with me, I won't let them kill you..." He finally expressed himself, his volume was but a mere whisper, but his voice was a deep baritone with a lovely rasp beneath it.
~~~~
Xedrin jumped a little when Nyra spoke. He hadn't expected it. But relaxed a moment after that. Continuing to clean the others face before setting the water down and gathered up the bit of food. It was mostly nuts and berries in this case and some jerky from whatever they had hunted. He placed the jerky to the others lips.
"I...I'm not sure that I can." It mostly showed that he was scared of what was beyond the walls. He seemed to assume that if he left he'd be dead anyway.
He tooks a breath and swallowed. "Lets just focus on getting you out first...alright?" He watched Nyra but didn't question the fact the other spoke. Maybe because the guy seemed to show that he understood some things.
"You need to eat..before I can work on your locks. I don't know how much time I have." He looked towards the hatch again.
~~~~
Nyra continued to stay still for the other, letting him continue to clean him once he had settled. When the jerky was presented to him, he carefully pulled the piece into his mouth, avoiding Xedrin's fingers as to not nip him or anything.
Nyra could see the fear in the blue abyss of Xedrin's eyes, he knew he would not win if he questioned, so he didn't, the Grounder just stared at him with questioning eyes, with a small tint of concern hidden in them.
"Just free me" He spoke again, though still in a whisper, looking at Xedrin then back to the hatch. He was more concerned about becoming free, then his own personal needs at the moment, he could eat and drink all he wanted as soon as he was out of this horrible place.
~~~~
Xedrin nodded and crouched to put the food back away in the satchel. And rummaged through it a moment or to more. He came out with two thin bits of wire and moved towards the manacles at the ends of the chains. He worked quietly and seemed very focused but for the worried glances to the hatch. After a bit the first clicked but he made sure that it stayed closed.
"A few flicks of your wrists should loosen and open them...but...please...don't do that till I'm gone...I want them to think less and less options about it having been me...if thats alright..."
He worked for a time till he got all the bindings in the same situation as the first and then he stepped back. He moved to hide the water out of sight as well as the food. He pulled one more thing out. It looked to be the sharpened side of metal. Possibly from some sort of wreckage. Fastened to it was carved wood and thin bits of rope. It made and effective dagger.
"Your..your going to need this more than I will right now." He slid it into hiding as well.
"I should go...I've been here too long...he was just going to get his food..."
~~~~
The Grounder watched in interest as the other picked the locks, and he nearly wiggled himself out as soon as he heard the click of the lock giving, but stopped himself when Xedrin asked him not to, it was the least he could do after everything the other had done for him.
Nyra watched carefully as to where everything was hidden and then looked at the heap of his gear that was carelessly thrown on the ground not far from him either. His mind quickly putting together a plan as to what to grab first, what to put on first and what was important.
"Muchof" He spoke out of habit, then remembered that Xedrin wouldn't understand him in the least, "Thank you." He quickly spoke after to give Xedrin a translation to his native tongue, Trigedasleng, the language spoken among all twelve of the grounder clans.
~~~~
Xedrin nodded softly and took a breath again. He was already feeling paranoid about getting caught. He moved for the hatch and pulled it open.
"Just get safe..." He murmured before heading down from the upper floor. His friend was there of course. Though he just hoped the man wouldn't betray him. He nodded to the other man who just pointed out of the dropship and shook his head.
Xedrin hurried out at a quicker pace than he might have planned. It was almost a run. His target was to get to his tent and hide there for the evening.
He wanted to focus on something and the building trinkets scattered around his tent would do that..and he could claim he was working as well. He just hoped the younger group that bedded in the tent with him wouldn't tattle about him having been gone so long.
~~~~
Damien emerged from his tent, and moved the guards around, the usual routine switch, so everyone could get their rest that they needed. When everyone was into their new locations he returned back to his tent.
Nyra could hear voices outside the hatch, let them quiet down then began shaking the locks free, the first one came off easily, and Nyra had to react quickly, grabbing the manacle before it really had the time to drop, avoiding the large noise it would of made it he had let it swing down. Though the movement did cause him to realise just how much pain he was in.
He quickly managed to get himself free of the other 3 manacles, his body slumping to the ground for a moment, heavy breathes escaping his lips, his muscles were stiff from being in one position for so long and all the abuse they had taken.
Nyra moved around the upper part of the dropship, a slip limp in his walk, even though he moved slowly, carefully and quietly. First he pulled on his shirt, the material was tattered and torn, next thing that followed was the utility like belt that went across his chest diagonally, wincing as it sat across his ribs. Then his belt was put in place around his waist and before he went any further, he pulled a small tin from a pouch on the belt, opened it and pulled out a small glass vial that was filled with dry herbs, opening the bottle and taking a few pinches, placing them in his mouth and beginning the chew on them to release the natural pain relief they offered, then replacing the items back to their original spots. Soon enough, he was all geared up, his mismatched skull mask back in place, fully clothed, though careful to avoid the knife that was still sticking out of his arm. The handmade dagger Xedrin had given him in hand, and the satchel attached to his belt, he was ready to go.
But now, he was faced with the issue of how he was going to get out with a guard right outside the hatch and a whole camp to get through unnoticed. He closed his eyes and tried to remember the layout of the camp, trying to devise the best escape route.
~~~~
Xedrin slipped out of his tent just as night was falling. He moved to the medical tent offering some help to the wounded there. He had reasons though. Admittedly he didn't like stealing the sedatives from the wounded but he knew that they would give the injured more if it wasn't working.
He spent enough time to say he'd done an hour shift before he'd slipped from the tent. Heading for the hot beverages he gathered up a coffee, or what they were using as such. He moved out of the place and headed back for the drop ship while carefully adding the sedatives to the drink. Making sure no one was looking as he did so.
Once there he spoke loud enough that Nyra could hear him above. "Hey...it's nice for you to take watch. I thought I would bring you a drink since you can't leave for what...the next hour or so at shift change?"
"I actually have a two hour shift. Gimmie that." The new guard snatched the drink up and glared at Xedrin. "Go away..do..whatever it is your clumsy ass does. I'm surprised you didn't spill the drink on the way here."
Xedrin frowned and shook his head. "I'm trying to be nice...have a good shift..I guess." And with that he hurried off back towards his tent. He wasn't sure how Nyra would get out but he'd done all he could now.
~~~~
Nyra sat on the floor of the upstairs area, resting his body while he continued to try and find a way out of this mess, but then a familiar voice reached his ears, and he could clearly heard each word he spoke. He had followed through with drugging the guard as he had mentioned, and Nyra couldn't help but have a small smile make it's way to his swollen lips. Though it quickly disappeared when he heard how cruel the guard was to Xedrin, it was uncalled for, even if Xedrin was drugging him, the guard didn't know that.
Nyra heard footsteps leaving the dropship, and he assumed they were Xedrin's, and he sat there and waited a bit, letting the sedatives sink in to the guard's system. After about ten minutes of waiting, Nyra carefully made his way to the hatch, lifted it, and painfully but carefully brought himself down to the main level of the drop ship, his eyes locking on the the guard that was now knocked out cold. He carefully moved to the entrance of the dropship, carefully peeking out to see if anyone would see him. The camp seemed rather quiet, most had now crawled into tents, though Nyra could hear some of them talking and whispering among themselves. He didn't let himself get distracted, he looked around quickly for a way around the wall without alerting any of the guards that were still awake and alert. Though his tall frame did make it a bit harder to find things to sneak behind, he had managed to make it to the edge of the wall without being noticed.
He now followed the wall, hoping to find an open part in it.
~~~~
As he followed the wall along he could see that there were guards along them as well. They were posted at increments along the walls so that they could see one another. Though they were watching outside the wall not inside so his movement was going unnoticed for the most part.
Off in the distance down the wall he could see there was a small opening in the barrier where crates had been put up to hide the entry in and out. Clearly someone often came and went from the premises.
In fact there were two people slipping out just as Nyra got close.
It looked like nothing more then a young couple so there didn't seem to be any danger there.
As for the opening he would have to squeeze through, it wasn't meant for someone his bulk of size.
Xedrin himself had settled down in his tent, pulling the blankets up and trying to keep himself from being too paranoid. He shivered and closed his eyes hoping to drown his nerves out with sleep. It wasn't working all that well.
~~~~
Nyra quickly stopped and stayed quiet as he watched the young couple slip through the hole in the wall, looking up at the guards from time to time. Then made his way to the hole and pushed himself through it then pressed himself against the wall as much as he could. Watching as the young couple ran off into the woods, Nyra noticed that the guards did not see them, so he took the opening and moved in to the shadows of the forest he was ever so used to, quickly becoming invincible, despite his size.
He carried himself to the edge of the water then followed it up not to far to a small, safe lagoon, where he and his people knew that nothing lived in the water. Once there, he began to strip himself of all of his clothing, removing the leather twines from his hair, letting the long strands fall free and the slowly walking in to the cold water, a sigh and a shiver coursed through his body as it gave nearly an instant relief, but he knew not to stay long. He quickly washed much of the dry blood and dirt from his skin, let the cool water help with some of the swelling.
He got himself out of the cool water, it didn't take him to long to be satisfied with his cleanliness, he was now worried about the knife that still stuck out of his arm. He made a small fire at the edge of the water, still not fully dressed, only in pants, and in said small fire he placed the handmade dagger, let it get hot red, looked at the knife in his arm and pulled with one, straight true pull. Dropping the knife, he flew for the hot dagger and pressed it into the wound before it could really react to the lack of the knife.
The Grounder bandaged the wound with what small amount of supplies he had left and redressed himself, retwisted his hair and fastened it with the small leather twines. Once fully redressed, he clasped the mask around his neck for safekeeping, laid on to the ground, using a tree root as a pillow and let his body relax, the small fire providing him with a good enough amount of heat.
~~~~
Xedrin didn't get much sleep and the commotion didn't happen till the sun was coming up. Mostly because the one guard hadn't wanted to admit that he fell asleep on duty. He didn't want to get in trouble. When the morning guard came on he did the smart thing and went to check on Nyra...who was gone.
That's when the yelling and commotion and blame started up. The day guard would call for Damien yelling about the grounder being gone and blaming the night guard who in turn was trying to explain his way out of the situation. Then he yelled something about having grown tired just after Xedrin brought him a drink. Yelling that the little squirt had probably done something to him because he'd been rude to him.
The arguing went on and Xedrin hoped that it would pass. He was attempting to get into his work tent, deciding that he should skip going out to get breakfast this morning.
~~~~
Nyra did get some sleep but not as much as he would of liked, he did spend a lot of the night waking to tend to his wounds and such, as well as pick at the food that Xedrin had given him, then he would doze back off. He was awoken by the commotion coming from the 100's camp, the yelling and shouting, though he was not close enough to make out the words, but he assumed that it was simply them yelling about the fact that he was gone, so he paid little mind to it and attempted to fall back asleep, despite the noise and the now rising sun.
Damien shot up in his tent, the two girls spilling off of his chest as he did so. His name being shouted through the camp, followed by accusations. The tall blond picked himself up, quickly dressed, storming out of his tent while still pulling his shirt over his head. "Shut the hell up!" He snapped at all of them, and many of them did, other than the night guard that was still throwing accusations towards Xedrin.
"I said shut up!" He snapped at the night guard before turning on his heels and violently making his to Xedrin's tent, throwing the front door open. "Get out here!" He leaned in, and grabbed on to the half curled lock's of Xedrin and dragged him out of the tent and holding him up by his hair so they were face to face.
"Are they right? Did you do something?! Why the hell is the grounder gone?! What the hell did you do to my guards?!" The questions just kept spilling from his mouth as his face started to tint red, shaking Xedrin by his hair to try and get an answer from him faster.
~~~~
Xedric barely had time to register that Damien was tearing into his tent but when the younger group left and his hair was grabbed he cried out. Stumbling out and tried to stay on his feet as he was dragged.
When the questions were posed at him his blue eyes grew wide. Hand pawing out at Damien's shirt with the fact that he was barely on his tippy toes with how he was being held. Trying to gain balance. Fear was on his face and he tried to shake his head.
"No..no no! I didn't do anything. I swear. I've been in my tent!"
It was then that the man he thought was his friend piped up. Maybe for his own survival. "He's lying. He asked me yesterday if he could see the grounder. I let him because I thought it harmless. I checked afterwards though. Seems he just brought the grounder water. But he's acting on kindness towards the Grounder."
Xedrins eyes shoot toward the other man with horror, he was sure he'd had a friend there. Up until that moment with the guy gave him a smile and a raise of a shoulder in a shrug as if to say 'What can ya do?'
Xedrin slumped a little but thought he was defeated in this. "I didn't do anything...what could I have done...? I'm clumsy...I'm not any use..remember?"
~~~~
Damien continued to hold him up on his tip toes, regardless to if he was uncomfortable or not, though he did grip into Xedrin's hair even more, so there was more tension on the roots of the hair. But then the words of the other male reached his ears and out of anger Damien threw the smaller male, tossing him towards the crowd that was yet again forming, people parting out of the way to let Xedrin tumble and roll across the ground instead of landing against them.
"You're a dirty little damn liar! You are the only person who went up there, and now he's gone! Who else could of done it,I agree that yes you're useless but clearly someone has a heart for the people who has murdered our people!" He continued to shout as he followed behind the boy he had just thrown, then his boot flew in to Xedrin's ribs, "Now tell me the damn truth! What the hell did you do!?" His fist were now in balls as he glared down at the smaller boy.
It was apparent, they really had lost their way, and they had truly become a society based on one person's word, violence and savagery, it was clearly shown in how there was absolutely no order to the issue, no trial, no organization, vote, nothing, just a bunch of teens turning on each other based on each other's words.
~~~~
Xedrin was tossed and hit the ground with a sick thud and the sound of something popping from a joint. The way he held his arm it was likely his elbow or shoulder but the severe pain made him see spots in his vision and so with the kick came down on his ribs he screamed.
He did his best to attempt to skitter backwards on his ass using his uninjured arm to help him back up. Blue eyes were wide with fear. Uncertain gaze flickering around the place, he wanted to lie but he'd done it and there was too much proof to deny it. If he kept lying would he get in more trouble than he was in now? Or would the beat him till he admitted it anyway.
His eyes looked towards all the faces that were screaming at him with violent words or smiling that he was getting hurt and then looked towards Damien.
"You're all enjoying this...You've turned into Monsters. WH..what you were doing to him..it's..it's wrong. Even if I didn't do it...you'd beat me till I admitted to it.."
He already knew they had made their decision. Admitting it wouldn't change anything and the proof was there anyway.
~~~~
The scream reached Nyra's ears, and he knew that voice, even if it was distorted into a scream. His body shot up, his vision ever so slightly blurring around the edges from the quick movement. His muscles were tense and his body still sore, but the scream just kept replaying in his mind, and it echoed around him, he immediately stood, his boot kicking up water from the lagoon on what little embers were burning from his small fire and he began to weave through the forest, pulling the mask over half of his features as he was towards the camp, even though the common sense side of his brain told him not to.
Many of the faces that stared down at Xedrin showed no care for his well being, they were simply following their leader, and the ones that did have an issue, simply turned a blind eye."Who else could of done it?" Damien asked the smaller boy, keeping close to him as he bum scooched backwards. "No one else has the key to those locks,and you might be useless with it comes to pretty much anything, but I also know you were a dirty little thief back on The Ark!" Damien accused him, exploiting Xedrin in front of everyone, telling them all exactly why he was on the ground with them. Not because he was some sort of murderer like some, or violent and cruel like others, no, he was just plain down sneaky, and that didn't sit well with Damien.
The crowd around them began to chant "Float him! Float him!" Many walked away at that point, but many stayed grouped around them, and started to pump their fists in the air.
Nyra reached the edge of the walls, there was no guard up on their posts when he got there, his eyes darting around for a way to see in to their wall, his eyes scanning up a large, bulky tree, and before he was able to think, he was climbing up the tree to get a birds eye view.
He could see the crowd that was chanting, he wasn't sure what they meant when they chanted those words, but by the look on some of their faces, the Grounder assumed it was a bad thing, he needed to figure out a way to get Xedrin out of there, with both of them alive.
~~~~
Xedrin was terrified the moment they all started to yell for him to be floated. His eyes flicked around at everyone when the accruing glances came on him. He rolled to his hands and knees and tried to crawl away at this point.
"I ...didn't do..do it!....Please....I'm sorry!" Then again being sorry kinda was an admission to having done what he was denying doing. Now all he wanted to do was live...survive and make it away from all the people that wanted to kill him. He was an emotional mess and that made him shaking and uncontrolled.
~~~~
Damien looked down at him, and watched as he crawled away, a look of utter hate plastered across his smooth features. "You are a dirty liar, we all know you did it!" He followed behind him and pushed the smaller boy back to the ground with his shoe, pushing down on his back. "Get me something to lynch him with!" The leader snapped, ready to kill the other for his 'wrongdoings' in his camp. Many of the kids backed off even more, at the thought of Xedrin being put to death, but the ones that stood by were very loyal to Damien, or loyal to the idea that Xedrin had released a murder.
Nyra knew the word lynch and was well aware of what was about to be done now, even though his body ached and protested from all the movement, he let the adrenaline keep him going. His hands patted down his frame to try and find a dagger or knife that was suitable for throwing, and finally, he found one.
The grounder carefully aimed, and move the knife back and forth through the air before actually letting it go.The knife quickly went through the air, a small sound followed it as it flipped and then finally sunk in to a random bystander. Within seconds, Nyra manage to get another knife sunk in to Damien's arm, as if in revenge on top of a rescue mission. Blood for blood as his people would say.
When the knife sank in the girl first, and her scream echoed, Damien whipped around to look in the direction of where the knife had come but could see nothing but trees. "Grounders are attacking!" He yelled out, thinking that more had come to seek revenge for the one they had taken. His eyes looking do at Xedrin, "Look at what you've cau-" And before he could finish sentence, the knife sank deep in to his arm, a growl of anger escaping his as he bent over, cradling his injured arm. The camp began to run in havoc, forgetting the previous situation, and only worrying about their lives, thinking there was more than one grounder, since there was more than one knife.
~~~~
Xedrin cried out when his smaller delicate frame was pressed to the ground and into the dirt. He clawed at the earth but Damien was much stronger than he was. At the call of getting something to lynch him with he cried out again. "Please...please no..is it really worth it...?! I I..." and then the knife hit the girl and he wondered if it was his fault..if the man had brought Grounders back to the base. He shut up instantly and when the second knife hit his eyes widened. More than one? Crap.
When the commotion came he took advantage of it and wiggled out from under Damien's foot attempting to dart for the exit of the place, he hoped he could get there before they closed them off to the invaders. He wasn't sure which was best.. Dying by Grounder..or his own people.
~~~~
Damien let the other wiggle out from under his feet,he had larger things to deal with at the moment, with a grounder attack on the now, first thing in the morning. He started to yell, bark out orders. "To your posts! Get your weapons and watch in the trees, remember, they are fast and vicious!" He moved towards the drop shop to their small weapons stash, and started to hand them out. "Close-" He started to yell, but was cut off by yet another knife flying by his face, nicking his cheek, though this one looked like one of their own weapons; A piece of metal, tethered to a piece of wood.
Nyra had hoped that throwing that third knife, his last one had given Xedrin enough time to escape, hoping he had delayed the doors enough. His radioactive green eyes darting around and watching the chaos from up in his tree post. But he realized he needed to be on the ground, ready to intersect Xedrin before he got too far into the woods. So with adrenaline still powering and pushing is sore body, he climbed back down the tree. He was very careful as to not move the branches to much, he knew the guards were back at their posts and on the look for grounders, and very panicked and jumpy, so it wouldn't take much for them to fire their weapon in his direction.
Nyra's feet hit the ground with a small, unnoticed thud, and he ducked his body into the large foliage and began to move into position, very careful to keep himself hidden. He now crouched about 10 feet away from the main gate in a straight shot out, so provided Xedrin just kept running, they'd encounter each other; Nyra was greatly hoping that for once, the boy would be panicking and just want to keep running.
~~~~
In fact Xedrin was panicking. His intention was to get as far away from this place as he could. He was starting to believe most of the folks there were savages and quick to kill. He on the other hand hated the idea of killing anything or anyone. Which would make surviving on his own pretty difficult. It was a good thing he wasn't going to have to.
On the other hand his panicked state left him oblivious to his surroundings and he just kept running. He was intending to do so until he couldn't run any farther.
He had nothing packed either as it was a spur of the moment survival reaction. Should Nyra reach out for him he would be completely unaware until it happened.
~~~~
The gates closed only moments after Xedrin ran out, many yelled to inform Damien, but all he yelled back was "He'll die out there anyways!" And continued to gear everyone up for a full fledged attack.
Nyra could see the panic on Xedrin's face very clearly as he ran, and got closer and closer to where Nyra hide. And when Xedrin got close enough, he indeed lunged up, snagged Xedrin around the waist with one arm, and covered his mouth with the other, to not draw too much attention to him. Knowing the guards were probably watching Xedrin, and Nyra wanted them to think he was dead. The grounder curled them both back in to foliage within seconds, falling on to his back to keep them low, just in case they shot, despite the pain it caused him to have the other's weight on him, even if Xedrin was light,it still hurt. Xedrin's back against his chest, laying on top of him. "Stay quiet." Was all he whispered to him, the bone mask resting on Xedrin's shoulder, but kept his hands where they were.
~~~~
Xedrin cried out, or started to when he was grabbed only to have the hand clamped over his mouth. At this point he was sure he was done for and started to squirm and wriggle as best he could. Right up until Nyra told him not to move.
Fear ran through him as it wasn't exactly a voice he'd recognized. After all even if he had heard it before only once or twice there was a good chance it wasn't enough to recognize it when afraid and being whispered. He stilled himself trying not to bite the hand over his mouth in an attempt to get away.
Maybe whoever it was wouldn't kill him. Maybe they would just want to....do what? He asked himself while he lay atop the man holding him. A muffled worried whimper against that hand. He stayed as still as his trembling body would allow for.
~~~~
Nyra held him close, he wasn't sure if the boy recognized him and was just extremely scared, or he was just flat out still in panic mode. But still, Nyra held him close, even tried to comfort him by gently rubbing up Xedrin's side ever so slightly to show him he was safe where they were. "Huusshhhh." He gently whispered out, trying to sound as soft as he could, despite his rough, deep voice.
The camp was still in a chaos, for a few minutes that is, until they realized there were no more attacks, Xedrin had escaped and it all stopped. Damien lashed out, the knife still embedded in his arm. "This was a god damn set up!!!!" He punched the outside wall of the drop ship. "Return your weapons, for those of you that are not on watch!" He snapped and looked around, the teens followed the orders. "And for those of you on watch, open fire on that little bastard and his new friends on god damn site!"
Nyra could hear nearly every word that Damien was snapping about, he wasn't exactly a quiet man, and Nyra was always taught, the louder you yell, the weaker your hit. Hence Nyra had grown up to be a very quiet man that was built to pack a good, clean hit with almost any weapon. He continued to lay there with Xedrin on top of him, his breathing was steady as he waited. They'd be stuck there for a little bit longer, since Nyra didn't want them to be seen.
~~~~
Xedin was still terrified. But now he was also confused as well. The hushing and the rubbing to his ribs made him a mix of nervous and uncomfortable. After all..whoever was holding him was a stranger. And from the clothes that were being worn it wasn't anyone from the drop ship.
Eventually he managed to still himself and closed his eyes, he was breathing long and deep now through his nose. Hopeing as long as he looked calm maybe whoever held him would let him go.
A muffled talking came from behind that hand that somewhat resembled "Don' urf ee" It was a whimpered out sound and he reached a hand up to try and pull the arm away from his mouth.
~~~~
Nyra laid there his breathing starting to become laboured as the adrenaline wore off, but he was determined to keep the smaller man safe from the other's at the 100's camp. He had saved his life, and debts were to be paid.
Nyra noticed the other had become much calmer, he stopped comforting the other, his hand went still and no more sound escaped him. He barely understood what was muffled from the other behind his hand, but from what he understood, it was 'Don't hurt me', which Nyra had no plans on doing. He let the other pull his hand from his lips but spoke very quietly as he did so "Just don't make too much noise, I didn't come back for you to get both of us killed." His voice was still a whisper behind the bone mask.
~~~~
Xedrin blinked a little. Could it be? Did he come back? He'd only heard about two words from the man before. This was different, he spoke more..maybe it -was- him? When the hand came away from his mouth he whispered through trembling words.
"Y..you're that Grounder...? Y..you came back...?"
As it was Xedrin was in a great deal of pain himself from being kicked and tossed about. The adrenaline was starting to wear off and he made a pained sound. Attemping then to roll off Nyra. If he was allowed he would make a loud-ish sound landing on the ground beside him. He was -not- graceful or skilled in the wilderness by any means.
~~~~
Nyra let Xedrin put his hand where ever, and paid no mind as to where it ended up, but when he was spoken to, he responded. "Yes." There was a very small smile pulling at his lips on the one corner, though it went unseen, hidden by his mask, and the angle they laid at.
Nyra noticed the other trying to roll away, and stopped him, both arms wrapping around Xedrin quickly, one around the waist and the other around his ribs. But he was aware of why he wanted off, and understood, so he very gracefully and quietly rolled them both into a completely different position in one quick movement.
Xedrin now laid on his side, Nyra right behind him, carefully snaking his arms out from under the other, giving him room to lay on his back if he chose to. Their new positioning allowed Xedrin to see what little bit of Nyra's face that was showing, his bright green eyes focused on the smaller boy intently.
~~~~
Xedrin made a small quiet yelp of a sound when the arm's tightened around him. Though when he felt Nyra roll them to the side he allowed for it and did his best not to panic. There was a whimpered wince from bruising coming up on his ribs but once in the grass he stilled himself before rolling onto his back so he could see Nyra more.
His bright eyes were still filled with fear but he was mostly scared for his life right now. What would happen next for him. When he caught Nyra's gaze he flushed and quickly looked away.
"Hi.."
He wasn't sure what else to say to him right now considering his current situation. In his mind he was currently pretty screwed.
