That earned him a backhanded blow so hard it rattled what teeth remained him. "Shouldn't hurt a man before he fights for you," Kyte said, spitting a gob of blood on the chamber's dark stone floor. He smiled at Yuna, hoping the flicker in her orange eyes was one of at least slight amusement. "Defeats the purpose, wouldn't you think?"

He had yet to see the woman laugh, and from what he had seen, that's how he would die. Unless I've learned anything. Kyte snorted. He never learned. But that was, in his experience, not a requisite of this job.
