Shine on You Crazy Diamond
Lyrics by Pink Floyd
Remember when you were young, you shone like the sun.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
Now there's a look in your eyes, like black holes in the sky.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
You were caught on the cross fire of childhood and stardom,
Blown on the steel breeze.
Come on you target for faraway laughter, come on you stranger,
You legend, you martyr, and shine!
You reached for the secret too soon, you cried for the moon.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
Treatened by shadows at night, and exposed in the light.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
Well you wore out your welcome with random precision,
Rode on the steel breeze.
Come on you raver, you seer of visions, come on you painter,
You piper, you prisoner, and shine!
Nobody knows where you are, how near or how far.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
Pile on many more layers and i'll be joining you there.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
And we'll bask in the shadow of yesterday's triumph,
And sail on the steel breeze.
Come on you poor child, you winner and loser,
Come on you miner for truth and delusion, and shine!

Sydney looked up at the stars one night as she did every night, but still, her longing for her home remained. Oh, hindsight is indeed a cruel thing, amplifying any and all mistakes one may or may not have made. Sydney could easily see her then-future, of success and satisfaction, the chance to shine brighter than her brothers, but she could just as easily see where she went wrong, and why her then-future failed to arrive. She could feel the first voices whisper into her ears, and hindsight granted her the ability to see herself fall even then. Hindsight told her that her descent began slowly, social inertia trying to keep her motionless, at the height of her potential. Society refused to see what truly was happening to the gem of it's program. More and more voices had attracted themselves to Sydney, and their clamoring told her to co things she wouldn't otherwise do. Her classes and arms were cut. Society's blind eye had begun to see, but it still had wanted to turn away. The voices grew stronger more powerful, and on the then-rare occasion that she turned up for class, she more often then not had let her mind wander. Hindsight here told her that her fall had reached terminal velocity, and rock bottom would soon be hit by her.
Graduation day at the Academy had soon arrived, and Sydney's clamoring voices had hit their peak in magnitude and volume. Sydney had barely managed to graduate, so she sat with some of the Academy's dimmest graduates in the back row of the stage where she was to remain seated until her name was called. But her voices did not want to be silenced. Each wanted to be louder than its brother. Sydney started thrashing, trying to get them all to shut up. Very few noticed. The giver of the speech shot Sydney an angry glance before returning to his notes. Sydney tried to stop, but her voices yelled and yelled and yelled at her. She screamed, and everyone noticed. The speaker had stopped, and staring at Sydney, beckoned her to the front. Here, her memory has faded. The next thing she remembers is falling towards Earth, and as the blue sphere grew bigger, her voices left her, and she eventually hit the ground, the fallen star.
But in the end, the fallen star was just happy to be able to watch her brethren dance their eternal dance.
